April 29, 2010 Pentecost Dates Revised

This article by Steve Coerper is a rebuttal to the article by F.M. Riley posted yesterday. It is a very convincing discussion.

Steve Coerper (29 Apr 2010)
Dear Pastor Riley –
I am among those who have what I think are legitimate and valid questions concerning the calculation of the date of Pentecost.   Our questions center on the likelihood of:
1)  Moses and perhaps 2 million Israelites (including the infirm, women, children and infants) making the trek through the desert and on foot from Goshen to Mount Sinai in Arabia (Gal. 4:25) in fifty days,
2)  Paul and his companions making the journey from Philippi to Jerusalem (as the itinerary and frequent stops are catalogued in Acts 20-21) in fifty days, and
3)  the summer wheat being mature enough by May 23rd.
These are Biblical facts that MUST be addressed in any reasonable discussion of the date.  If you have not seen Arnold Bowen’s work, I invite you to consider the position he presents and, if possible, refute his conclusions.  Here’s the math:
