Jan 31, 2011 An open question about Yellowstone volcano

We post every update about the Yellowstone volcano that we run across in the news

Is the world’s largest super-volcano set to erupt for the first time in 600,000 years, wiping out two-thirds of the U.S.?

  • The super-volcano beneath Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming has been rising at a record rate since 2004

It would explode with a force a thousand times more powerful than the Mount St Helens eruption in 1980.

Spewing lava far into the sky, a cloud of plant-killing ash would fan out and dump a layer 10ft deep up to 1,000 miles away.

Two-thirds of the U.S. could become uninhabitable as toxic air sweeps through it, grounding thousands of flights and forcing millions to leave their homes.

This is the nightmare that scientists are predicting could happen if the world’s largest super-volcano erupts for the first time in 600,000 years, as it could do in the near future.

Yellowstone National Park’s caldera has erupted three times in the last 2.1million years and researchers monitoring it say we could be in for another eruption.

They said that the super-volcano underneath the Wyoming park has been rising at a record rate since 2004 – its floor has gone up three inches per year for the last three years alone, the fastest rate since records began in 1923.

But hampered by a lack of data they have stopped short of an all-out warning and they are unable to put a date on when the next disaster might take place.

When the eruption finally happens it will dwarf the effect of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano, which erupted in April last year, causing travel chaos around the world.

The University of Utah’s Bob Smith, an expert in Yellowstone’s volcanism told National Geographic: ‘It’s an extraordinary uplift, because it covers such a large area and the rates are so high.

‘At the beginning we were concerned it could be leading up to an eruption.’

But he added: ‘Once we saw the magma was at a depth of ten kilometres, we weren’t so concerned.

‘If it had been at depths of two or three kilometre we’d have been a lot more concerned.’

Robert B. Smith, professor of geophysics at the University of Utah, who has led a recent study into the volcano, added: ‘Our best evidence is that the crustal magma chamber is filling with molten rock.

‘But we have no idea how long this process goes on before there either is an eruption or the inflow of molten rock stops and the caldera deflates again’.

The Yellowstone Caldera is one of nature’s most awesome creations and sits atop North America’s largest volcanic field.

Its name means ‘cooking pot’ or ‘cauldron’ and it is formed when land collapses following a volcanic explosion.

In Yellowstone, some 400 miles beneath the Earth’s surface is a magma ‘hotspot’ which rises to 30 miles underground before spreading out over an area of 300 miles across.

Atop this, but still beneath the surface, sits the slumbering volcano.

Scientists monitoring it believe that a swelling magma reservoir six miles underground may be causing the recent uplifts.

They have also been keeping an eye on a ‘pancake-shaped blob’ of molten rock he size of Los Angeles which was pressed into the volcano some time ago.

But due the extreme conditions it has been hard to work out what exactly is going on down below, leading researchers unable to say with certainty what will happen – or when.

Since the most recent blast 640,000 years ago there have been around 30 smaller eruptions, the most recent of which was 70,000 years ago.

They filled the caldera with ash and lava and made the flat landscape that draws thousands of tourists to Yellowstone National Park every year.

‘Clearly some deep source of magma feeds Yellowstone, and since Yellowstone has erupted in the recent geological past, we know that there is magma at shallower depths too,’ said Dan Dzurisin, a Yellowstone expert with the U.S. Geological Survey at Cascades Volcano Observatory in Washington State.

‘There has to be magma in the crust, or we wouldn’t have all the hydrothermal activity that we have.

‘There is so much heat coming out of Yellowstone right now that if it wasn’t being reheated by magma, the whole system would have gone stone cold since the time of the last eruption 70,000 years ago.’

Jan 31, 2011 A Tribulation and Rapture Discussion

Daniel the post that you have today in five doves is a further stretch of our resets. If it does not fit the interpretations let us find one that fits.

your item 1 the generation of 70 years does not end in 2017 as far as math is concerned. Israel was proclaimed a nation in May 15, 1948 plus 70 years = 2018.

It is my opinion and I am not among the worlds brains on the subject of prophecy that there are other scriptures that must also fit in the puzzle like the 6,000 years since Adam or the different wars that must involve Israel.

I would say that a starting of the Tribulation on the year 2017 is a very highly improbable scenario. In this five doves there have been very good papers written in support of other dates for the Rapture and the Tribulation and they all have quoted scripture to support their arguments.

The situation in Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen Iraq, Syria, Sudan and other Muslim nations indicates to the observer and all the news commentators of the major news networks that the Middle East is driven by instability and violence.

These factors tend to point out a very close time fulfillment of the prophecies pertaining to the Rapture and the start of the Tribulation.

Today in five doves there are people that are saying that the Rapture will occur at the sixth seal and others have argued that we are already in the Tribulation. Others have placed the start in Oct 28, 2008 with the Obama telecast.

Too many theories and dates.

I for one will try to pinpoint the parts of the puzzle and the major participants based on the fact that we are in the times of the end and that History is fluid and in constant change and challenge myself to find more than one proof for any event to be a definitive clue or piece of the puzzle.

Do not feel discouraged by my words but keep testing and verifying, and then retest your ideas again. It is an extremely complex interpretation and we must labor hard to solve. The same I say to all doves that are involved in this task.

Operation Reset

Operation Reset

Daniel Matson — January 30, 2010

With the passing of 2010 and the anticipated Feast of Trumpets Rapture, many straws were grasped at in the following months to make the 2010-2017 timeline work.  Even though some of the tweaks had a few valid considerations, there were still items that must be reset since changes were made to previously held views simply due to “scheduling pressures”–trying to squeeze in the events before seven years expired in 2017. It should be fairly clear now that fitting in the 70th Week by the time of 2017 is impossible, unless one truncates the 70th Week to only 3.5 remaining years, but that view distorts the clear chronology of Daniel 9. And to say we are now in those seven years, is simply not true.

The first straw was to move the Rapture date to October 9, 2010 instead of September 9, 2010. The theory here was to keep intact a Feast of Trumpets Rapture and that the current observed Jewish year was actually a month early, which would have placed Trumpets on October 9th. This was clearly a valid point that needs further consideration in the years ahead. However, even though valid, this straw failed for 2010. There was no Rapture.

The second straw was to move the Rapture to October 18, 2010, which was Heshvan 10 or Yom Kippur depending on the Jewish Calendar being right or one month early. This day was at the increment of 120 day periods since June 7, 1967. It fell at 120 plus 12 of these periods. Due to “scheduling pressures” the item sacrificed here was not keeping the Rapture on the Feast of Trumpets. The possible theme of the Church being sealed into the “ark” at this time seemed a valid comparison. In fact many events of the year honed in on this day. Its significance, however, was not to have a Rapture.

At this time more straws seemed possible up and through Hanukkah 2010. Clearly we are still here and Hanukkah was the end of the scheduling limit. So where are we now? In limbo?

First, this article is about operation reset. The first order of business is to reset the view that the Rapture is to occur on the Feast of Trumpets. There are many good articles and books on this.  The key is that when Paul described the Rapture, it was to occur “at the Last Trump” (1 Corinthians 15:52).  Jewish understanding of this term of the day along with the themes ascribed to the Feast of Trumpets, should make this pretty much a solid fact that the Rapture is to occur on the Feast of Trumpets.

The second item of business is to clarify and reset to the prior conclusions of Daniel 9. With the scheduling pressures it seemed somewhat plausible that the “he” who confirms the covenant could be the Messiah and therefore a Rapture event that kicks off the 2,520 days. However, this interpretation required that the “he” who stops the sacrifices also be the Messiah, which does not make sense unless he is viewed from a position of sovereignty, which does seem to be stretching a more concise meaning. According to Daniel 9, the crux comes to understanding who the “prince to come” is, whose people destroyed Jerusalem. For it to be the Messiah in order for the further use of “he” to refer to the Messiah in the 70th Week, it means that the Jews destroyed Jerusalem. The only other option is the Romans or rather people of that empire. This is the better choice because clearly the prince “to come” still refers to something future to this destruction. The “prince to come” is properly identified as the Antichrist who comes to power at the time of the end. This then gets back to the previous understanding that the Antichrist confirms the covenant at the beginning of the seven years, causes the Abomination of Desolation midway, and then is overthrown by the Prince of Princes at the conclusion of the 70th Week.

One thing that was discovered through this process is that the Antichrist confirms the covenant.  This revelation to Daniel would seem to mean to its original intended audience to be the Land Covenant of Israel. He is not saying a covenant, but the covenant. In other words, this seems to mean that the Antichrist will confirm the Land Covenant. He would actually say that Israel is Israel’s, not the Palestinians. He is then wooing Israel. If Israel has just been saved by God from the Russian-Iran Axis, then to obviously put oneself into a position of power in Israel is to approach it as a friend. It would be pure deception.

So the reset for the onset of the 70th Week is back to these conclusions:

1 – The Rapture is slated for the Feast of Trumpets.
2 – The Russian-Iran Axis Invasion then comes to its fulfillment per Micah 7.  Developments in this theater will be further seen
as this time approaches. The Rapture will be the catalyst. It is probable that other wars will be seen prior to the
Rapture that further set the stage, like the Lebanon 2006 War or Operation Cast Lead 2008/9.
3 – The Antichrist comes to power in the following vacuum of Ezekiel’s war and the ensuing political crisis.  His confirming the
covenant begins the 70th Week.

Other last minute scheduling adjustments attempted to move the conclusion of the 70th Week to the conclusion of Day 1290, which is 30 days after the Day of Atonement. The Day of Atonement has been held here to always conclude the 1260 days. In rethinking Daniel 9, it is interesting that the last item to fulfill the 70 weeks is to anoint the Most Holy. Some translations refer to this as Christ or the Most Holy Place, referring to the Holy of Holies. This was only entered once a year by the High Priest on the Day of Atonement. Therefore, it would seem to be the solid choice to say that Day 1260 and hence, Day 2520, all conclude on the Day of Atonement as Christ our High Priest sets foot on the Mount of Olives, crosses the Kidron Valley, and offers atonement for the nations at the Most Holy Place and becomes the Anointed King.  This would therefore conclude the 70 Weeks. The start of the 70th Week will therefore begin 2,520 days back from the Day of Atonement as had been believed.

Therefore, the original conclusions are still believed to be in play. These are:

1 – Kislev 1 will be the probable day that begins the 2,520 days.
2 – The Abomination of Desolation will occur in the middle of the 2,520 days on Nisan 20 on Firstfruits (Sunday), which usually
puts the Day of Atonement on the Sabbath.
3 – The 2300 evenings and mornings make 1150 days that stretch from Av 10 and the “bringing low” of the Temple until the
Day of Atonement.
4 – Day 1290 would coincide with Heshvan 10.
5 – Day 1335 would coincide with Hanukkah.

Of course, the larger question is, what to do about the conclusions of 2010-2017? That is the big reset. While some still think the conclusion of the 70th Week needs to still occur in 2017, however, to keep the full allotment of seven years still future, it simply cannot be the case. The only conclusion that can be seen thus far and to keep the significance of timelines landing in 2017, is to conclude that 2017 may be the starting time of the 70th Week, pushing the Second coming to 2024. This would still allow for Christ’s return to occur within a period of 80 years.

The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.  -Psalm 90:10

The fall feasts of 2017 are in the 7oth year from the start of Israel, 2024 would be in the 77th year, and 2028 would be in the 81st year. 2024 and 2028 are the upcoming years that have the Day of Atonement on the Sabbath. With 80 years as the limit, 2017-2024 looks to be the next possibility and may be the final one at that. One interesting thing is that the Day of Atonement 2024 is slated for October 12th. October 12th is known as the day that Babylon was overthrown by the Medes and Persians.

Please remember, this is speculation with what information we have. The Lord is returning soon regardless of anything having to do with this website. However, with the day counts of Daniel, only certain years fit within the leap month system within the limit of a generation, even if the upper limit of a generation is 80 years.

More will soon come. The next coming article concerns the use of 120 and the patterns that have been seen and what may continue.

Jan 30 Earthquake activity near San Francisco

The earthquakes that are happening near San Francisco are small, but they are in the city limits and it is worth noting that there have been several people that have had dreams and visions of a great earthquake in this city.

In the past two years I have visited this site many times since earthquakes are one of the signs listed by Jesus for the times near the Tribulation. The pattern in the past few weeks is increasing in closeness and numbers to the city.

Jan 30, 2011 Egypt a country in the path of fulfilled prophecy

A comment left by Michael is so good that it is necessary to included in the posts of this blog.

The Bible has a lot of prophecy concerning Egypt that have not yet been fulfilled and await fulfillment in the future. Some of these will be fulfilled before the Tribulation, during the Tribulation and after in the Millennium.

Egypt has always been intricately linked to Israel and let us keep in mind that an infant Jesus with Mary and Joseph sought refuge from Herod in this land. Prophecy states this as one aspect of the coming Messiah where the scriptures say in Hosea 11:1 that out of Egypt I called my son and before this out of Egypt He called the Nation of Israel where they were taken to be preserved in a time of drought.

It is great to see the hand of God move mightily in the shaping of history.

Make sure you follow the link at the end of the article to see the importance of the Nile’s waters in the shaping of this nation.

Isaiah 19

The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it. And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother and every one against his neighbor; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom. And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards. And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts. And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up. And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defense shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither. The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more. The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish. Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks, shall be confounded. And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices and ponds for fish. Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counselors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings? Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt. 13The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof. The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit. Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do. In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it. And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction. In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD. And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them. And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it. And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be entreated of them, and shall heal them. In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians. In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land: Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.

With the Egyptian government in crisis there are likely other country’s that will now seek control over the Nile’s headwaters.

And they shall turn the rivers far away…

jan 29, 2011 Egypts fate tied to Israel

The news out of Egypt keep coming in as violent uprising and revolution is going on. It is my opinion that the government of president Mubarak will not be able to remain in power.

In its place the most probable outcome is that a violent Islamic regime will take control and be a threat to the State of Israel. The article listed here reflects the fears of Israel to this possible outcome.

Israel watches Egypt uprising with fear

The Associated Press
updated 2 hours 1 minute ago 2011-01-29T21:12:24

JERUSALEM — Behind an official wall of silence, Israel watched nervously Saturday as anti-government unrest worsened in Egypt, fearful that the violent and growing street protests could topple Israel’s most important ally in the Arab world.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his government to remain silent about the situation in Egypt. But in a clear reflection of Israel’s concerns, Sun D’Or, a subsidiary of Israel’s national airline, El Al, whisked dozens of Israelis, including diplomats’ families, out of Egypt on an emergency flight. The government also urged Israelis to avoid travel to Egypt.

The stability of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s regime is a key interest for Israel.

Egypt was the first Arab country to make peace with Israel, and since succeeding the assassinated Anwar Sadat in the wake of that historic peace treaty three decades ago, Mubarak has steadfastly honored the deal.

While relations have often been cool, Mubarak has remained a key bridge to the Arab world, frequently mediating between Israel and the Palestinians. Mubarak also has cooperated with Israel in containing the militant Hamas group, which rules the Gaza Strip, a volatile coastal strip that borders both Israel and Egypt.

Israeli officials, ordered to speak on condition of anonymity, expressed grave concerns about Mubarak’s tenuous grip on power. Some said they feared the violence could spread to neighboring Jordan, the only other Arab country with a peace deal with Israel, or to the Palestinian territories.

There were also concerns that anti-Israel opposition groups, including the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood, might gain a larger voice in Egyptian decision-making.

“A stable Egypt with a peace treaty with Israel means a quiet border,” one Israeli official told The Associated Press. “If there is a regime change Israel will have to reassess its strategy to protect its border from one of the most modern militaries in the region.”

Early Saturday evening, the Sun D’Or International Airlines plane touched down in Israel with about 40 Israelis who were in Egypt on private business plus an undisclosed number of diplomats’ spouses and children on board, officials said. The Israeli Foreign Ministry said its diplomats would remain in Egypt for the time being.

The Egyptian unrest dominated Israeli media. Israeli TV news channels provided nonstop updates throughout the day. State-funded Israel Radio reported extensively on developments and dubbed its broadcasts “Fire on the Nile.”

Writing in the Haaretz daily Saturday, columnist Aluf Benn speculated that Mubarak’s “fading power” leaves Israel with few friends in the Middle East.

Mubarak has faced days of massive anti-government protests, with tens of thousands of people filling the streets of Cairo and other major cities demanding his resignation after nearly 30 years in power. The protesters have said they are fed up with the massive unemployment, lack of opportunities and corruption that plague the country.

On Saturday, Mubarak named Omar Suleiman, his powerful intelligence chief, as vice president, the first time someone has held that position since he became president in 1981. It was unclear whether the move, which followed promises of reform and a new government, would be enough to calm the unrest.

There was no immediate reaction from Israel, but the appointment was likely to calm nerves in Israel, where Suleiman is a frequent visitor and has good working relations with his Israeli counterparts.

Israeli officials said it was unclear if Mubarak would survive the protests, and they fear that ties could be damaged if Egypt’s popular opposition group, the Muslim Brotherhood, makes gains.

Israeli lawmaker Benyamin Ben-Eliezer, who has maintained a friendship with Mubarak, broke ranks with other Israeli officials who remained silent about events in Egypt.

He told Israeli Channel 10 TV that he had spoken with Mubarak in the past few days, and that the Egyptian leader sounded optimistic, saying he had known that riots would break out and that he had prepared for it.

Still, Ben-Eliezer said he was concerned about Egypt’s future. “This could lead to a completely different regime, one that is a lot more radical Islamic.”

Eli Shaked, a former Israeli Ambassador to Egypt, offered similar speculation on Channel 10. “It’s good that Israel is keeping quiet, but there is no doubt that what is happening in Egypt is not good for Israeli interests,” Shaked said. “It will only be a matter of time before a leader of the revolution arises and he will come from the Muslim Brotherhood.

A stronger Muslim Brotherhood could also affect the balance of power between the rival Palestinian camps, the government of President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank and the rival Hamas regime in Gaza.

Abbas is backed by the West, while his Islamic militant rivals draw their support from Iran, Syria and Hezbollah. Hamas is the Gaza branch of the Muslim brotherhood and could gain strength if their Egyptian brethren rise to power.

Abbas on Saturday called Mubarak, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa. Abbas told the Egyptian leader that he is eager to see Egypt stable and secure, the agency said.

There was no immediate comment from Hamas.

In Gaza, Palestinian residents rushed to buy extra gasoline, concerned that fuel supplies would run out. In the past few years, the majority of Gaza’s fuel has come from Egypt through underground smuggling tunnels on the Gaza-Egypt border.

Palestinian smugglers who work in the tunnels said Saturday that there were fewer fuel supplies available from Egypt, but that they were continuing to smuggle Egyptian fuel into Gaza. The Hamas-run National Economic Ministry, which oversees fuel supplies, said there were currently no fuel shortages in Gaza.

Hamas Interior Ministry spokesman Ihab Ghussein said there were no infiltrations on the Gaza-Egypt border.

“The southern border with the Gaza Strip is quiet. There is no security breach on that border,” Ghussein said.

Jan 29, 2011 The riots in Egypt, Jordan, Yemen and the future war of Psalm 83

The news coming out of Egypt, Jordan and Yemen are still very bad. The following article appeared in the Miami Herald this morning and it is the basis of this post.

If you follow the article it explains the political and economic reasons that are behind the uprisings and riots in these nations, but what is missed in this article is the spiritual dimensions of this riots. I will try to bring them into perspective from a Bile prophecy angle and it will follow after the Herald’s article.

Arabs’ future is up for grabs

DAVOS, Switzerland — It’s a sign of the times that some Arab journalists attending the gathering of international power brokers here were spending their free time scanning Twitter messages about political protests back home. It’s that kind of moment in the Arab world, when people are nervous about anything that is connected to the status quo.

The unrest that toppled a government in Tunisia has spread across the region, with big street demonstrations in Egypt, Jordan and Yemen. It’s a movement that appears leaderless — more like a “flash mob.” But it shares a common sensibility — the rising expectations of a younger generation that sees global change on the Internet, and has momentarily lost its fear of corrupt, autocratic leaders at home.

“I think it’s overdue,” says Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist who runs the Alwaleed 24-hour news channel, speaking about the street protests in Egypt. “There were reasons for people to get angry 10 years ago, 20 years ago and now it is here.” Indeed, he says, “the Arab world has been seeking renaissance for the last hundred years,” but has stalled the last several generations, caught between fear of authoritarian regimes and anger at their corruption.

It’s an easy revolution to like, and U.S. officials have wisely endorsed the protesters’ goals of openness and reform. But in truth, there’s little America could do to bolster the octogenarian Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, even if it wanted to. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may endorse reform, as she did Wednesday, but this is a post-American revolution, encouraged in part by a recognition of the limits of U.S. power.

The unrest follows a series of American failures in the region. President Obama promised change. But he couldn’t bring Israel and the Palestinians to a peace agreement, and couldn’t counter Hezbollah in Lebanon or its patron, Iran. America is not the stopper in the bottle anymore, and the Arab man in the street knows it.

U.S. officials are encouraged by the fact that the protesters in Tunisia, Egypt and other Arab countries seem autonomous of the Muslim Brotherhood and other radical Islamic groups. But that may be false comfort; this process is still in its early stages.

History teaches that revolutions are always attractive in their infancy, when freedom is in the air and the rebellion seems spontaneous. But from the French and Russian revolutions to the Iranian uprising of 1979, the idealistic but disorganized street protesters usually give way to a manipulative revolutionary elite — the “Revolutionary Guard,” as the Iranians like to call them.

This life cycle of revolution was evoked by scenes of protesters battling riot police in Tahrir Square in Cairo this week. The square’s name means liberation, and it was named for Gamal Abdel Nasser’s revolution against the monarchy in 1952. But one set of Egyptian autocrats was gradually replaced by another.

Tunisia’s deposed President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali lost his nerve, something that hasn’t yet happened with Mubarak. On the very day he fled Tunis, Ben Ali is said to have called a member of the Saudi Cabinet for advice. He was told to talk to the protesters, stop shooting and stay in the country. By that night he had fled to Jeddah.

One Arab intelligence analyst speaks of Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and Jordan as “unviable countries,” whose economies can’t seem to grow fast enough to meet the demands of their rising young populations. Joe Saddi, the head of Booz-Allen’s consulting operations in the Middle East, says that to succeed, Egypt needs India-level growth rates of 8 percent or more, rather than its recent 5 percent.

Lebanon is another step into the unknown, with Prime Minister Najib Mikati heading a new government dominated by Hezbollah, the Shiite militia. The Saudis, French and Americans have all bungled efforts to avoid this outcome; for now, they seem likely to let Lebanon stew in its internal political mess and foreign debt. Mikati may seek a middle path, in the classic Lebanese fashion. But one Arab foreign minister is said to have voiced privately what many suspect: The standoff between Hezbollah and its enemies will be resolved only by another war.

In the end, there’s a sense of inevitability about this revolution, like a rotten gourd that finally bursts. One Egyptian business executive here warily summed up his feeling about regime change this way to an Arab friend: “Long term, it’s good; short term, it’s bad.” But even that is a piece of optimism about an Arab future that’s up for grabs. To start the world is approaching a time that in the Bible is referred to as the Tribulation or Apocalypse. For those of you who are new to the prophecies of the Bible this is a period of seven years duration that will close the six thousand years of rule by humans under the spiritual control of Satan. At the end of the Tribulation the Second Coming of Jesus Christ occurs where He defeats the enemies of God and establishes a Kingdom  of one thousand years under His rule right here on planet earth.

The key element on these prophecies that pertain to the Tribulation is the State of Israel.

This tiny Nation will become the center of a whirlwind, hurricane that involves all the Nations of the world. As you can surmise these events will involve different Nations at different times on the seven years.

The first Nations to be involved with Israel are those directly surrounding Israel and the prophecy that relates to it is found on Psalm 83 listed below.

<< Psalm 83 >>
New International Version

Psalm 83

A song. A psalm of Asaph.

1O God, do not keep silent;

be not quiet, O God, be not still.

2See how your enemies are astir,

how your foes rear their heads.

3With cunning they conspire against your people;

they plot against those you cherish.

4“Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation,

that the name of Israel be remembered no more.”

5With one mind they plot together;

they form an alliance against you—

6the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,

of Moab and the Hagrites,

7Gebal,a Ammon and Amalek,

Philistia, with the people of Tyre.

8Even Assyria has joined them

to lend strength to the descendants of Lot.       Selah

9Do to them as you did to Midian,

as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,

10who perished at Endor

and became like refuse on the ground.

11Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,

all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,

12who said, “Let us take possession

of the pasturelands of God.”

13Make them like tumbleweed, O my God,

like chaff before the wind.

14As fire consumes the forest

or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,

15so pursue them with your tempest

and terrify them with your storm.

16Cover their faces with shame

so that men will seek your name, O Lord.

17May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;

may they perish in disgrace.

The following link will explain the nations listed above.  Mr. Salus is a very dedicated student of Bible prophecy.

Next Up: Psalm 83 or Ezekiel 38?

by Bill Salus

These days there is much talk centered upon the future timing of the Russian and Iranian led invasion of Israel, foretold in the Bible prophecies of Ezekiel 38 and 39. Due to the newsworthy events that are presently occurring, whereby Russian and Iranian relationships are ever strengthening, prophecy buffs are appropriately attempting with god-speed, to connect the prophetic dots.

For those of you who are not familiar with today’s most prevalent prophetic news pervading the Christian and Jewish scholarly communities, you should study Ezekiel 38 and 39, with the understanding that it alludes to a nuclear equipped Russian – Iranian led confederacy, which forms to invade the nation of Israel in the end times.

Although scholars are somewhat split as to who all the other enjoining coalition member nations are, they all tend to agree that no explicit reference is made to the inclusion of Palestinians, Syrians, Egyptians, Lebanese, or Jordanians. Furthermore Saudi Arabians apparently abstain from enlisting themselves in the fight alongside Russia, Iran, Turkey, and the additional consortia of nations. The absence of these above listed predominately Arab populations tends to perplex the scholars, often causing them to postulate, rather than promulgate as to the reasons why.

In their zeal have the prophecy buffs managed to put the colloquial cart before the proverbial horse? Certainly the events described in Ezekiel 38 and 39 are slated to arrive soon, but are they indeed scheduled next? There exists a litany of questions that should be appropriately answered before any scholar dare flip the pages of the prophetic calendar forward to the date of this Goliath Ezekiel event. Newspaper exegesis makes for sensational reporting, but has no inherent ability to accelerate the final fulfillment of a Bible prophecy.

Before we list the flurry of questions, let’s ponder the most obvious one, which is; why are the Palestinians, and their Arab neighbors from Saudi Arabia, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan, not declared by Ezekiel to be enlisted members in the Russian – Iranian led coalition? These are the nations that have proven to be the most observable opponents of the Jewish State, since its inception in 1948. It is through much of their Arab soil, that Russia, Iran, and their cohorts intend to travel in order to invade Israel. This question will be answered further on in this article, but for now let’s explore the following additional questions.

Is Israel:

  • A people dwelling securely, yashab betach in the Hebrew language? (Ezek. 38:8)
  • A people dwelling without walls? (Ezek. 38:11)
  • A nation at peace in the Middle East? (Ezek. 38:11)
  • One of the wealthiest nations in the world? (Ezek. 38:13)
  • A people who have acquired “great plunder”? (Ezek. 38:13)
  • Recognized as a Sovereign Nation, by the international community? (Ezek. 38:8)

These questions address some of the prerequisite conditions required for the stage to be appropriately set for the Russian – Iranian led nuclear equipped invasion of Israel. Furthermore Ezekiel 38:8 describes the Jewish people, as being regathered from the nations of the world, and returning to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. Though the Jewish people are being restored back to their ancient promised land, the honest answers to the above questions are, in each case No!

Israel is not dwelling securely; In the summer of 2006, they had over 4000 rockets fired upon Haifa and other northern locations out of Lebanon from the Hezbollah. Additionally, the Hamas are still a constant threat from the Gaza area. Then of course there were the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973. Likewise Israel is not a people dwelling without walls; to the contrary, they have constructed a huge 25 foot high, soon to be 403 miles long, wall in the midst of their land, intended to partition Palestinian terrorists away from Israel proper.

No it does not appear as though Israel is presently a nation at peace in the Middle East, whose sovereignty is officially recognized by all their Arab neighbors. Neither has Israel become one of the wealthiest nations in the world, as a result of acquiring “great plunder”, which Biblically alludes to the spoils obtained as the result of a war. In fact Israel continues to forfeit land, their most valuable asset, in an attempt to obtain peace with their Arab neighbors.

So then if the prerequisite conditions are not yet come into alignment for the final fulfillment of the Ezekiel 38 and 39 prophecies, what is the next major ground shaking prophetic event foretold to unfold in the Middle East? What dare the Bible say will happen in the most perplexing region on planet Earth? Will it be an event that serves to bring Israel into appropriate – alignment with the stage – setting requirements that facilitate the fulfillment of Ezekiel’s Russian – Iranian led invasion?

Yes, now we have some Yes answers to introduce. Yes something else of epic proportion is foretold in the Bible to occur in the Middle East! Yes its conclusion will bring forth the announcement that the world theater is now readied for the nuclear equipped advance of the Russian – Iranian led invasion. Yes, it does adequately answer the fundamental question of why the Arab populations listed above are nowhere to be found in the Russian – Iranian coalition. Are you ready?

There is destined to be an Arab – Israeli war as per Psalm 83. An Arab confederacy consisting of Palestinians, Syrians, Saudi Arabians, Lebanese, Egyptians, Jordanians, and all their associated terrorist bedfellows, is destined to form with the explicit mandate of, and I quote; “They have said, Come, and let us [Arabs] cut them [Jews] off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” (Psalm 83:4, NKJV; emphasis added)

The Psalm 83 confederates:

  • Tents of Edom (Palestinians and S. Jordanians)
  • Ishmaelites (Saudis – Ishmael father of the Arabs)
  • Moab (Palestinians and Central Jordanians)
  • Hagrites (Hagarenes – Egyptians)
  • Gebal (Hezbollah & N. Lebanese)
  • Ammon (Palestinians and N. Jordanians)
  • Amalek (Arabs of the Sinai area)
  • Philistia (Hamas of the Gaza Strip)
  • Tyre (Hezbollah and S. Lebanese)
  • Assyria (Syria and N. Iraqis)

These Arab peoples referred to by their ancient territorial names in Psalm 83, come together in one last crazed attempt to destroy the Jewish State of Israel. This will prove to be a fatal mistake for these Arab confederates. They will meet up with the technologically advanced arsenal of weapons possessed by the powerful army of Israel. It will be a matter of Israel’s survival, and their army will prevail. In victory, Israel finds itself fulfilling numerous prophecies such as:

  • They have become an “exceedingly great army” (Ezek. 37:10)
  • The execution of judgments on those who despise them (Ezek. 28:25)
  • They will then dwell securely (yashab betach) (Ezek. 28:26)
  • They will acquire Arab lands and great plunder (Obadiah 1:19, Jeremiah 49:2)
  • Sovereign International acclaim as “My People Israel” (Ezek. 25:14, 38:14,16)
  • They will become one of the wealthiest nations on earth (Zephaniah 2:7,9 NRSV)

These and many more prophecies find there fulfillment as a result of the Arab – Israeli war, which is certain to come, and is most likely the next major Middle East headline event according to scripture. A more exhaustive understanding of this major event can be found in my book Isralestine, The Ancient Blueprints of the Future Middle East.

Why are the Palestinians and their Arab cohorts not enjoined in the Ezekiel 38 and 39 prophecies? Today’s most observable Arab opponents to the restoration of the nation Israel collectively abstain due to the fact, that they are soon to be decimated by the might of the Israeli Defense Force. How does Israel achieve peace in the Middle East and obtain international recognition as the sovereign Jewish State? It is through military means rather than politically brokered Real Estate deals, such as “The Roadmap Plan”. When will the partition wall in Israel come down, and the Jews dwell securely in the Middle East? This will occur when the Jewish State expands territorially, acquires great plunder, and becomes regionally superior.

Digesting the above, Russia and Iran become threatened by what will then be, the new and improved, enlarged and in-charged future Israel. As a result of the Israeli Conquest over the inner circle of the core Arab nations that most closely border Israel today, the Russians and Iranians will promptly invite an outer circle of nations to enjoin their coalition in an attempt to destroy the Jewish State, and capture Israel’s newfound fortunes. It is then, and not before, that the prophecy buffs can safely turn the next page of the prophetic calendar forward and warn the world, that the events of Ezekiel 38 and 39 are about to reveal themselves.

18Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord—

that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

Jan 28, 2011 Egypt and Jordan in riots?

The events happening in many countries of the North of Africa and elsewhere in the Middle East seems to be spreading to all the countries in the region.

Lebanon has seen Hezbollah taking control of the government. Tunisia’s dictator was toppled and Egypt is having riots in all their major cities with Mubarak dismissing his government to name a new one in its place. This may be too little too late to save his rule. Yemen is also rioting.

Now Jordan is following in the steps of all the other nations and here is the article from the Jerusalem Post that talks about this.

In all of this the state of Israel is the one that must be truly concerned in that it will undoubtedly manifest the result of these changes in a radical Muslim agenda that will result in an attack against this nation. How long into the future for this to happen is anybodies guest, but events are moving very rapidly in this age of telecommunications ans jet travel.

Remember that God is behind Israel and that all these evil plans that are being hatched to destroy Israel will not succeed but will ultimately prove to be the destruction of all these nations.

Are we getting close to the Tribulations I would say very close.

Thousands in Jordan protest, demand PM step down

01/28/2011 15:02

In 3rd day of protests, opposition supporters took to the streets in Amman to express their anger at rising prices, inflation, unemployment.

AMMAN, Jordan — Thousands of Jordanian opposition supporters took to the streets Friday in the country’s capital demanding the prime minister step down and venting their anger at rising prices, inflation and unemployment.

It was the third consecutive Friday of protests following Muslim prayers in Jordan, inspired by the unrest in Tunisia and rallies in Egypt demanding the downfall of the country’s longtime president.

Protesters demand Jordan’s government step down

About 3,500 opposition activists from Jordan’s main Islamist opposition group, trade unions and leftist organizations gathered in Amman’s downtown, waving colorful banners reading: “Send the corrupt guys to court.”

The crowd denounced Jordanian Prime Minister Samir Rifai’s unpopular policies. Many shouted: “Rifai go away, prices are on fire and so are the Jordanians.”

Another 2,500 people also took to the streets in six other cities across the country after the noon prayers. Those protests also called for Rifai’s ouster.

King Abdullah II has promised some reforms, particularly on a controversial election law. But many believe it’s unlikely he will bow to demands for popular election of the prime minister and Cabinet officials, traditionally appointed by the king.

Rifai also announced a $550 million package of new subsidies in the last two weeks for fuel and staple products like rice, sugar, livestock and liquefied gas used for heating and cooking. It also includes a raise for civil servants and security personnel.

Still, Jordan’s economy struggles, weighed down by a record deficit of $2 billion this year. Inflation has also risen by 1.5 percent to 6.1 percent just last month, unemployment and poverty are rampant — estimated at 12 and 25 percent respectively.

Members of the Islamic Action Front, the political wing of the powerful Muslim Brotherhood and Jordan’s largest opposition party, swelled the ranks of the demonstrators, massing outside the al-Husseini mosque in Amman and filling the downtown streets with their prayer lines.

As they broke into a procession, the demonstrators chanted, “In the name of God, the government must change” and the Muslim holy book “Koran is our constitution, jihad is our path.”

Leftist university professor Ibrahim Alloush said it was not a question of changing faces or replacing one prime minister with another. “We’re demanding changes on how the country is now run,” he said.

He accused the government of impoverishing the working class with regressive tax codes which forced the poor to pay a higher proportion of their income as tax.

He also accused parliament as serving as a “rubber stamp” to the executive branch.

“This is what has led people to protest in the streets because they don’t have venues for venting how they feel through legal means,” Alloush said.

Jan 25, 2011 Lebanon in turmoil after the election of Hezbollah

The most important news from the middle East is the taking of control by Hezbollah of the Lebanese government. The article that is shown here shows the consequences that are already happening from this takeover. The prospects for war in the region has greatly increased. In the video following the article Mr. Gary Stearman of prophecyinthenews reads the news of this event published in Israel a place directly affected by the outcome of the election.

It is the student of prophecy that knows the significance of these events prophetically.

Riots Erupt in Lebanon

Pretty much as expected:

Riots erupt in Lebanon after designation of Hezbolah’s Mikati as PM

Riots and protests on Tuesday erupted after Lebanon’s President Michel Suleiman designated Najib Mikati as Prime Minsiter designate, the state-run National News Agency reported. Many demonstrators have been injured in Tripoli, Qebba, Zahle and Wata Al-Mousaytbeh regions. Lebanese Army has been deployed to the areas to disperse protesters.

In the Bar-Elias region in Zahle, protesters set barricades on fire by using tires. The protest erupted into gunfire causing the injury of one person who was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

The main road that connects Tripoli with Menieh-Akkar was blocked by Sunnites protesters who burned tires and blocked the access. Another protester was hurt due to gun shots.

Thus far, we are seeing a continuation of the “worst case scenario” – beginning with Hezbollah’s actions to effectively end the current government structure, and then replacing the Prime Minister with Najib Mikati, which has effectively given Hezbollah complete control over Lebanon.

And as many predicted, violence has now ensued and shows no signs of remitting.

Anjar inhabitants blocked the Sham road next to Akramiyeh entrance. The crossroad towards Kaskas and Tayyounehw as also blocked with burning tires by demonstrators as well as the road in Baqqar, Qebba.

On Monday, President Suleiman designated Makiti as PM designate. Makiti is backed by the Hezbollah Shia Islamist group. The protests were staged against Hezbollah’s growing political power.

At about 2:00 p.m. local time, Mikati arrived to the Baabda presidential palace for a tripartite meeting with President Suleiman and Speaker Nabih Berri. After the meeting Mikati said that parliamentary consultations are scheduled to begin on Thursday to constitute a new cabinet.

So far almost everything has happened as predicted. It was also predicted that following a period of internal violence, as being reported today, we will see a continuation of these events into Israel. Only time will tell, but this evolving situation is worth watching very closely.

This is the video mentioned.

Jan 25, 2011 Yellowstone Volcano resent news

The Yellowstone park Volcano is a super volcano and according to this news the ground has risen 10 inches in a very large area. This blog contains another article with extensive coverage of the effects of a possible volcanic eruption of this volcano.

Yellowstone National Park‘s supervolcano just took a deep “breath,” causing miles of ground to rise dramatically, scientists report.

The simmering volcano has produced major eruptions—each a thousand times more powerful than Mount St. Helens’s 1980 eruption—three times in the past 2.1 million years. Yellowstone’s caldera, which covers a 25- by 37-mile (40- by 60-kilometer) swath of Wyoming, is an ancient crater formed after the last big blast, some 640,000 years ago.

(See “When Yellowstone Explodes” in National Geographic magazine.)

Since then, about 30 smaller eruptions—including one as recent as 70,000 years ago—have filled the caldera with lava and ash, producing the relatively flat landscape we see today.

But beginning in 2004, scientists saw the ground above the caldera rise upward at rates as high as 2.8 inches (7 centimeters) a year. (Related: “Yellowstone Is Rising on Swollen ‘Supervolcano.'”)

The rate slowed between 2007 and 2010 to a centimeter a year or less. Still, since the start of the swelling, ground levels over the volcano have been raised by as much as 10 inches (25 centimeters) in places.

“It’s an extraordinary uplift, because it covers such a large area and the rates are so high,” said the University of Utah’s Bob Smith, a longtime expert in Yellowstone’s volcanism.

Video: Yellowstone—World’s First National Park.

Scientists think a swelling magma reservoir four to six miles (seven to ten kilometers) below the surface is driving the uplift. Fortunately, the surge doesn’t seem to herald an imminent catastrophe, Smith said. (Related: “Under Yellowstone, Magma Pocket 20 Percent Larger Than Thought.”)

“At the beginning we were concerned it could be leading up to an eruption,” said Smith, who co-authored a paper on the surge published in the December 3, 2010, edition of Geophysical Research Letters.

“But once we saw [the magma] was at a depth of ten kilometers, we weren’t so concerned. If it had been at depths of two or three kilometers [one or two miles], we’d have been a lot more concerned.”

Studies of the surge, he added, may offer valuable clues about what’s going on in the volcano’s subterranean plumbing, which may eventually help scientists predict when Yellowstone’s next volcanic “burp” will break out.

Yellowstone Takes Regular Breaths

Smith and colleagues at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Yellowstone Volcano Observatory have been mapping the caldera’s rise and fall using tools such as global positioning systems (GPS) and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR), which gives ground-deformation measurements.

Ground deformation can suggest that magma is moving toward the surface before an eruption: The flanks of Mount St. Helens, for example, swelled dramatically in the months before its 1980 explosion. (See pictures of Mount St. Helens before and after the blast.)

But there are also many examples, including the Yellowstone supervolcano, where it appears the ground has risen and fallen for thousands of years without an eruption.

According to current theory, Yellowstone’s magma reservoir is fed by a plume of hot rock surging upward from Earth’s mantle. (Related: “New Magma Layer Found Deep in Earth’s Mantle?”)

When the amount of magma flowing into the chamber increases, the reservoir swells like a lung and the surface above expands upward. Models suggest that during the recent uplift, the reservoir was filling with 0.02 cubic miles (0.1 cubic kilometer) of magma a year.

When the rate of increase slows, the theory goes, the magma likely moves off horizontally to solidify and cool, allowing the surface to settle back down.

Based on geologic evidence, Yellowstone has probably seen a continuous cycle of inflation and deflation over the past 15,000 years, and the cycle will likely continue, Smith said.

Surveys show, for example, that the caldera rose some 7 inches (18 centimeters) between 1976 and 1984 before dropping back about 5.5 inches (14 centimeters) over the next decade.

“These calderas tend to go up and down, up and down,” he said. “But every once in a while they burp, creating hydrothermal explosions, earthquakes, or—ultimately—they can produce volcanic eruptions.”

Yellowstone Surge Also Linked to Geysers, Quakes?

Predicting when an eruption might occur is extremely difficult, in part because the fine details of what’s going on under Yellowstone are still undetermined. What’s more, continuous records of Yellowstone’s activity have been made only since the 1970s—a tiny slice of geologic time—making it hard to draw conclusions.

“Clearly some deep source of magma feeds Yellowstone, and since Yellowstone has erupted in the recent geological past, we know that there is magma at shallower depths too,” said Dan Dzurisin, a Yellowstone expert with the USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory in Washington State.

“There has to be magma in the crust, or we wouldn’t have all the hydrothermal activity that we have,” Dzurisin added. “There is so much heat coming out of Yellowstone right now that if it wasn’t being reheated by magma, the whole system would have gone stone cold since the time of the last eruption 70,000 years ago.”

The large hydrothermal system just below Yellowstone’s surface, which produces many of the park’s top tourist attractions, may also play a role in ground swelling, Dzurisin said, though no one is sure to what extent.

“Could it be that some uplift is caused not by new magma coming in but by the hydrothermal system sealing itself up and pressurizing?” he asked. “And then it subsides when it springs a leak and depressurizes? These details are difficult.”

And it’s not a matter of simply watching the ground rise and fall. Different areas may move in different directions and be interconnected in unknown ways, reflecting the as yet unmapped network of volcanic and hydrothermal plumbing.

The roughly 3,000 earthquakes in Yellowstone each year may offer even more clues about the relationship between ground uplift and the magma chamber.

For example, between December 26, 2008, and January 8, 2009, some 900 earthquakes occurred in the area around Yellowstone Lake.

This earthquake “swarm” may have helped to release pressure on the magma reservoir by allowing fluids to escape, and this may have slowed the rate of uplift, the University of Utah’s Smith said. (Related: “Mysterious ‘Swarm’ of Quakes Strikes Oregon Waters.”)

“Big quakes [can have] a relationship to uplift and deformations caused by the intrusion of magma,” he said. “How those intrusions stress the adjacent faults, or how the faults might transmit stress to the magma system, is a really important new area of study.”

Overall, USGS’s Dzurisin added, “the story of Yellowstone deformation has gotten more complex as we’ve had better and better technologies to study it.”
