Nov 10, 2013 Can Those Who Take the Mark of the Beast Still be Saved?
The first thing I want to do is thank both Nicole for her post of 11-3-13 and David H for his post on 11-9-13.
Their refutal of this very big mistake by John Mac Arthur is necessary and needs further clarification in my opinion.
First the video presented seems to be an old one from 2008 that Brannon House brought to the attention of Jimmy De Young in this interview. He is trying to make Jimmy understand that he was not alone in this thinking as John Mac Arthur also thought like that. They went on and showed the clip of Mac Arthur and after the clip they talked about their own position of believing that you can be saved after taking the mark of the beast when Rev 14:9 to 12 clearly tells you that you can not be saved if you take the mark of the beast as David H also posted.
9A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” 12This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.
It is important at this point that the mistake John Mac Arthur made be further debunked to understand the erroneous thought process he used to read his conclusion. He stated it in the video so I will refute it with scripture.
Before I keep going on I want to say that for almost 30 years I heard John Mac Arthur’s radio Bible teaching every day at 12.30 noon and in all that time his teachings grew me from a baby believer to the point I am now. I have the utmost respect and admiration for him as one of the best Bible teachers of these times.
In all the time I was listening and tapping his radio programs I was reading and listening to all the Bible prophecy and eschatology material I could get my hands on plus reading all the Bible prophecies. Due to the immensity of the task before me I still feel like I have barely scratched the surface due to the limitations of time and family that we all have.
About 2:25 minutes into the video John starts to say yes he believes salvation is possible for those who receive the mark otherwise there would be no salvation of anybody in the end of the Tribulation and the Jews that are saved means that it is possible as well as the others shown on Rev 7 an innumerable # of gentile people that are saved and ……
The people on Rev 7 are not the ones who are alive during the required taking of the mark in Rev 13
Now let us analyze the point in the Bible where the mark of the Beast is enforced on all the people that the Antichrist and the False Prophet can get their hands or control on. Chapter 13 of Revelation is the place you find this mark enforced. In rev 11 at the end it says, after the resurrection of the two witnesses and the blowing of the sixth trumpet has already passed after 1260 days of Tribulation already gone, that the two beasts rise.
One chapter before Ch 12 we see the woman which represents Israel protected in the desert for 1260 days, so JMA assumption that the Jews took the mark is not valid, they are protected by God and kept alive to receive the Kingdom at the second coming. The narrative tells of war in heaven and Satan thrown down to earth with great fury and that when Satan saw she could not get Israel he went after the rest of her offspring which are the people who will not worship him and those who have accepted Jesus as their savior. The next chapter 13 shows the Beasts which by now are under the power and possession of Satan. The Great Tribulation is about to start and the time remaining is 1260 days till the coming of Jesus with all His Saints back to earth.
What happens to the survivors of the first 1260 days of tribulation, about 3 billion people after all the deaths are counted in the first half? This excludes the protected Israelis.
If the seven years were to start now the world we live in has advances in technology that would facilitate a powerful control of the population in the developed and internet connected areas of the world, but there is an immensity of humanity that live at the margins of these advanced centers of technology plus the first 1260 days of world destruction will probably bring down many of the centers most technologically advance, so in conclusion Satan has his hands full to impose his nefarious system on the world. It is possible that more than a billion people will be able to elude this net while more than one or two billion will take the mark to conform (Speculation on my part).
Those who take the mark and survive to the end of the 1260 days as well as those who do not have the mark, Israel included will enter into a judgment at the second coming. The goats, those who take the mark will be declared guilty and killed and their spirits will await the final judgment at the end of the 1,000 year Kingdom. The sheep will remain alive and enter the Kingdom to replenish the earth and multiply as well as the protected in the desert Jewish nation.
I hope Rev 14:9 to12 is enough of a proof as to the incorrectness of the statement you can still be saved after you take the mark of the Beast!
In conclusion it would be great if John Mac Arthur would be made aware of the controversy his short opinion generated and the potentially destructive nature to those who yield and agree with it. Howse and De Young should acknowledge their mistake also.
